This past weekend + week was definitely an eventful one and I've got to say, I loved every single bit of it. It started off with Jeffrey's family coming over to do the "Hmong wedding" and it went so well. The night prior to, I remember being very nervous because his parents were going to be at my house for the very first time! Our parents were going to talk and interact and what not and I don't know, it all just made me nervous. However, it was a lot smoother than I expected and I'm so thankful for that. I'm especially thankful that our parents were understanding of it all because there was zero friction and man, I really cannot say enough good things about how it went down. Thanks be to God for working every detail. That same day, we took our engagements in super cold weather and then the camera battery died. So we ended up taking two more engagement sessions. Later, we had Korean BBQ to celebrate being officially Hmong married. I can never get enough of KBBQ. :)
After church on Sunday, both of our families went out to get dinner together and my heart could not have been more full. I seriously loved that so much. Jeffrey's parents decided that he should stay an additional week to help wedding plan (definitely didn't complain), so they booked a flight that night and left the next morning without him. I got to see him everyday for a week and it was the best thing. We literally just sat in the house and planned our wedding all day. Our main priority was finding a place which we now have! So yay!
Other honorable mentions from the week: lots of trips to Speedy Burrito - kinda outdid it on the chorizo tacos, making two trips to TFC, visiting Wayne and Alina and the kiddos and surprising them with KNEX (Jeffrey did, not me because I've never even heard of that!), driving home on E and finding the nearest gas station in a city that we knew nothing of - not gonna lie, I was a little nervous, checking a venue that ended up being nothing like we had imagined (we got a good laugh out of this one ... haha!), catching dinner and a movie with Vic and Chu, ordering goodies for our wedding, trying new restaurants with Jeffrey + family. As it's been said, all good things must come to an end. Saying bye this time around was not as hard because it's our last long distance ever! When he comes for my graduation in May, he's staying until wedding day! YAY.
What a beautiful thing marriage is. The more planning we do, the more we're reminded about how it has nothing to do with myself or Jeffrey, rather the coming of two with this covenant, this promise; it's an illustration of Christ and His love for the Church. So to have made ourselves feel as though we were the focal point was so foolish.
For woman to be with man, the Lord said it was good. I'm glad that this good thing won't ever end. :)
