TBH

7.31.2017

It seems as though I was the one not yet ready for this new season.

I love marriage (for real, love it) and being here like at this time of my life ... I love it, I do. It's nothing to complain about, seriously, but there are days where I long to be with my loved ones back home. It's stinky because it's not even a quick option for me to just make a visit.

And you know how the other married women say that it can get lonely sometimes? Truth. It can definitely get a little lonely or a lot. I think it'd be less lonely if there were more people here - lol.

ONE MONTH OF MARRIAGE

7.26.2017

Jeffrey and I have finally made it back to what I now call home. Crazy as it sounds, I'm so glad to be here. After our honeymoon, we traveled to Colorado and spent two full weeks there. Then a week later, we traveled to SALT. Living in and out of bags have been nice for the time being, but it's also so great to be out of a bag and settled in to our little room; to have a place to store my belongings; to lay comfortably on my own bed ... this is actually pretty great.

In one month ...

+ I learned that Jeffrey and I are great traveling buddies for the reason that we both hate making any kinds of stops. If I could, I'd travel to the destination point without a single stop, but too bad for bathroom/gas breaks.

+ I quickly realized that even though I feel pretty comfortable with my new fam, I'm not all too comfortable. It's a weird little feeling. When I went to annual conference, a friend advised me to "just embrace it." And it's weird because that's something I used to always tell myself before and then I guess I just forgot. My family has been so kind and patient as I transition into this new season and to be honest, they don't even make me feel like a "nyaab" ... they just make me feel like another person adopted into their family.

+ I've looked forward to going to sleep and waking up next to my husband each day and it really is the best. I heard it all the time, but y'all, it really is the best thing ever and the even greater thing is that this doesn't even begin to compare to what God intended for us in marriage in light of eternity. Yes, it's such a gift to be with Jeffrey forever and I so enjoy it, but all I can think about is how God intended for more and greater things to be delighted in when we are in the fullness of who He is inside the context of marriage.

+ A week after marriage, I was expressing to Jeffrey this idea of intimacy. When you've gotten to experience intimacy with another person inside the lines of marriage, it's a wonderful thing and it can't be known outside of itself (if that makes any sense at all). There are no words that can be put together to describe it and that's why it's meant to be saved for something so sacred as marriage. Hence why people come out so emotionally bruised after having experienced any kind of intimacy with another person, again, outside the context.

+ I've talked with a bunch of pastor's wives about marriage/life and a theme that occurred frequently was a loss of identity that came with marriage and children and being with a church. We're not anywhere close to having children and/or moving to be with a congregation just yet, but Jeffrey has been one heck of a considerate husband. He's guided me well in transitioning into this new place, served me in areas that I lack in, and he's continually assured me of who I am in this place.

+ Missing my family hasn't stopped, but it's gotten better and that's good news; that it does get better. Even better news is that I'll be seeing them in a few weeks to celebrate my brother's wedding. We finally booked tickets and I'm stinkin' excited.

+ The job searching has begun! It's been a fun season living an unemployed life, but I'm in need of a routine! This is the part where we just get to live life.

So that's been a month of marriage in a very small nutshell.

2 weeks in Colorado + Annual Conference

7.19.2017

First off, Colorado is insanely beautiful. I will say that again and again. Every visit (even though I've only been once prior to this visit) leaves me in awe of our Creator. Last time I was here, my nose bled because of the dry weather and surely enough, it bled this time around, too. I was so confident that it wouldn't...

Our trip started off with a visit to the mountains - duh! We hopped into the car and spent a few hours in Estes Park. The little strip is beautiful and it makes me feel like I'm living in a world of my own. We stopped in multiple stores, but our main goal was to get family pictures. Then, we went to the Rocky Mountains and stopped along the sides to get in a few shots here and there. Breathtaking!

For the rest of the week, we visited a ton of relatives' homes. Everyone lives fairly close to each other in CO and for a moment, it felt like everyone lived on one main street ... haha.

The week after, Jeffrey and I were able to attend our first annual conference together. It was always a dream to finally attend one of these things with my husband, however, after joining in on this one, I realized how business-like it was ... nonetheless, all was informative/interesting. I must say though that by the end of the week, I was more than ready to get home.

I'm sad that I didn't get many photos, but CO is a must if you're looking for places to visit. I find myself staring into the mountains forever and it never gets old.

MID-WEEK PAUSE

7.18.2017

I'm jumping' on here quick to simply jot my thoughts about all that's going on here this week at Salt '17. First off, being here as a married volunteer couple has been a neat experience. So many people have been asking me all these questions about the married life, but our lives have been kind of a non-stop travel session so there hasn't been much settling going on just yet. However, it's been so good to be here together with Jeffrey working towards something so much bigger than ourselves.

Next, the Lord has been faithful to continually reveal Himself as I spend more and more time with my small group (which was so nerve-wracking, but has become so fun to be a part of). Today, I find myself completely humbled as I dwell in His word and our theme/content for this week. Sometimes, there's this tendency to box Him up and limit Him with our finite minds and our little lives are made big and so over-dramatized because we have just no idea the capacity that our God can amount to; the heights in which He goes beyond, and the depths that only He is able to surpass. It's a simple truth, but so impactful when we stand centered upon who He is in light of this world we live in.

But yes, that's pretty much all.

BACH WEEKEND FUN

7.12.2017

Photos from the bach a few weeks back. Prepare for a ton of photos.

The air bnb spot we stayed in was a cute little place in Atlanta.

We made a quick dinner (which was so good, btw).

Spent a toooon of time at Ponce City Market (it was my first time there and it was too fun).

I really wanted to try Simply Seoul in the cafeteria area. I personally enjoyed the buns they served. There were so many restaurants, though. If I could, I'd try 'em all ... especially the coffee shops!

My favorite was getting to ride bikes through Piedmont park. We even found a nice guy who took multiple photos of us with the skyline!

We ended our last full day with dinner at The Lawrence.
