Hey gals! Here's the long awaited post of my entire trip to Peru - from start to finish. Still can't believe I got to spend the new year in Peru. It's truly a beautiful place. This may be a long post, but I hope y'all enjoy!
We started off by boarding our flight to head to Dallas. From there, we connected over to our international flight to Lima, Peru. The Lima airport is one of the larger airports in Peru, so we went to and from Lima quite a bit. At first, I felt very overwhelmed because I've never traveled out of the country, so it was quite the experience! That's not including the language barrier. I will say though that by the end of the trip, I felt like my Spanish improved a ton. Haha!
So our flight wasn't the longest one ever, but it was definitely a rough one. Not sure what it was, but I expected better international flights. Just saying. Haha. There wasn't a lot of room and the flight was packed to the brim. Actually, every plane we got on was packed and we took literally 10 planes total.
When we got to Lima, I literally couldn't stop looking outside our window.
The hotel we stayed at.
All the architecture was incredible.
We didn't think that there'd be a ton of people traveling this time of year, but we forgot that it was currently Peru's summer! The weather was nice and hot! When we finally got to Cusco, we immediately felt the high altitude. Cusco's altitude was so much higher than other places, so we took it real slow.
The plaza is a high-tourist area, but all the locals seem to come out and hang out here too. It feels like a total safe place and parents will allow their children to come and go as they please.
I wish I got pictures of the inside of this Starbucks. It felt like a total home! They did great with making sure it was nice and cozy. I found myself wanting to stay there the entire time because I was honestly exhausted.
We encountered a ton of people selling little knick knacks. We did pretty good up until this little boy came along. He was too sweet to say no to!
And I mean, these little alpacas are too cute to not have anyway.
The view, right? So pretty.
You better believe we totally ate McDonalds. For the most part, it tasted the same!
We ate at a little restaurant/buffet called Tunupa. They had live music and a great selection of different foods.
The night we came back from Machu Picchu, we decided to get McDonalds.
Keeping it short and simple! See y'all in the next part of the Peru posts!
