Chili for the last of our cold days

4.21.2020

We are getting the last (hopefully) of our colder days here and we're over the moon for the spring to come ... in its own time. I came home from work and wanted some chili -- so Jeff and I got right back into the car after I got home from work and picked up all the chili ingredients. It's such a warm and cozy meal that's so so easy to make. It's especially great when paired with cooler weather. I love it in the fall, but I will not object to having it year round.

This is a recipe from my brother and sister in law. Jeff and I have just used the same ingredients and kicked it up a notch with more spices. We love it and we're always reminded of times with our family whenever we have it.

I N G R E D I E N T S :

1 pk of ground meat
2 cans of diced tomatoes
1-2 cans of tomato sauce (we got one and diluted with water)
2 cans of pinto beans (or any kind that you like)
1 onion

S P I C E S :

- cumin
- garlic
- paprika
- cayenne
- turmeric

D I R E C T I O N S :

1. Dice the onion and sauté in pot. When they're clear, add in your ground meat. I like to add my salt and black pepper at this point.

2. When the meat is fully cooked through, add in your canned items .... corn, beans, diced tomatoes and the tomato sauce.

3. Turn the heat to low and let it simmer until it reaches a boil. At this point, I add in all the spices. I don't have exact measurements, but taste until you've reached your desired taste. I do a ton of paprika, cayenne, and cumin!

Service it up over a bed of pasta and call it good!

Enjoy! Let me know if ya make it!
xoxo, Heaven
